Haute Event: Annual Broadway Barks a Star-Studded Adopt-A-Thon

News | July 13, 2010

Broadway Barks, the organization started by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore that promotes the adoption of shelter animals, held its 12th Annual adopt-a-thon Saturday afternoon. More than 30 Broadway and television actors came together for the adopt-a-thon that generally yields about 200 adoptions.

The event not only focuses on the plight of homeless animals, but has opened the door for communication and has fostered a spirit of community among the numerous shelters and rescue groups working throughout the city. Guests there to support the cause included Brooke Adams, Cheyenne Jackson, Leigh Ann Larkin, George Akram and Karen Olivio.
