Louis XIII Debuts Le Salmanazar, The World’s Largest Decanter For $450,000

Louis XIII is scaling new heights by creating the world’s largest decanter, a 9-liter, $450,000 creation of beauty crafted by Baccarat.

Le Salmanazar—the only piece of its kind—was designed by 20 master crystal-craftsmen, who were employed to handle over 35 ounces of crystal, combining the skills of an elite body of artisans, Meilleurs Ouvriers de France and one of Baccarat’s Chevaliers de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

The collaboration between Louis XIII and Baccarat is one that has existed since 1874, when the crystal brand created the first crystal decanter of this luxe cognac, which was inspired by a flask found on the battlefield of Jarnac.

Today Louis XIII creates Louis XIII Le Salmanzar, a decanter so rare, there is only one in the world. A collector’s masterpiece, this exquisitely unique decanter stands as the ultimate symbol of LOUIS XIII’s history, tradition and passion for rare craftsmanship,” said Ludovic du Plessis, the brand’s Global Executive Director said in a statement.

Louis XIII Le Salmanazar will be presented exclusively at the Louis XIII boutique in Beijing SKP this month and is available for purchase through a private viewing appointment; it will be available for the next six months. The boutique will also work with clients to coordinate shipping back to the United States.

This isn’t the first time that the brand has been on the cutting edge of a ground-breaking innovation: in 2015, the luxury cognac house backed a film that won’t be seen for a century, the appropriately and aptly titled 100 Years: The Movie You Will Never See, directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring film legend John Malkovich.
