Bruno Mars, Diana Ross Conquer American Music Awards

The American Music Awards are back and bigger than ever. The dedicated fan event brought together leading music artists from around the world one night only in L.A. Bruno Mars conquered the evening, taking home a total of seven awards, including Artist of the Year.
With an emotional performance, Diana Ross won the the lifetime achievement award. She sang a medley of hits including “I’m Coming Out,” “Take Me Higher,” “Ease On Down The Road,” “Best Years Of My Life” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” The evening was even sweeter as Ross’ daughter Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the evening, in tribute to her superstar mother. The music legend accepted the award with her family at her side, saying simply, “It’s all about love.”
In other memorable moments, Christina Aguilera paid tribute to Whitney Houston and the 25th anniversary of The Bodyguard. With her show-stopping voice, Aguilera belted out an homage of hit tracks: “I Will Always Love You,” “I’m Every Woman,” “I Have Nothing,” and “Run To You.”
P!nk and Kelly Clarkson sang an emotional duet of “Everybody Hurts.” And P!nk further showed off her acrobatic skills by performing “Beautiful Trauma” from the side of a the JW Marriott. Selena Gomez made a big comeback performing “Wolves” with Marshmello. And other artists took to the stage to perform including Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Macklemore and Skylar Grey.
Mars swept the evening, winning in addition to the main prize, American Music Awards for Video of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Album, Favorite Soul/R&B Album, Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B song for “That’s What I Like.” Mars, as Artist of the Year will also have his own dedicated SiriusXM channel in 2018 for a limited run. He will curate the channel to play his favorite hits, as well as the artists he most loves.
