Weekend Update: How The Refreshed Westfield Century City Will Cater To VIPs
Westfield Century City is upping the ante with its nearly completed $1 billion renovation and offering guests a truly comprehensive shopping experience. Not only will the shopping center offer studio services to the city’s film, television and music industries, but it will also host the first-ever Uber lounge.
While many companies in the fashion and retail sectors focus just on celebrity styling, Westfield will establish a broader offering for the film and television industry that will capitalize on the huge volume of fashion buying that exists across all facets of the industry in Los Angeles – from purchasing wardrobes for TV and film to photoshoots for consumer and trade advertising campaigns. The mall is slated to become a dedicated “home base” for stylists and costume designers, partnering with the property’s retailers and their shopping services to provide required merchandise. At the same time, Westfield will offer these clients a variety of services including assistance with space onsite to coordinate buying, VIP or green rooms for fittings, personal shopping services, tailoring, shipping and other logistics services. The team can even make dinner reservations if needed or coordinate cars for transport to and from the center.
To bring these concierge-level services directly to industry costume designers and wardrobe departments, Westfield has also announced the formation of a new partnership with the CDGA (Costume Designers Guild Awards), which honors and supports the Costume Designers Guild (CDG); CDG members will have access to the center’s special Studio Services phone line and staff dedicated to servicing their needs at the center.
The company has also announced that it’s teaming up with Uber on designated drop-off and pick-up stations for the ride-sharing app’s vehicles at all its malls in the United States. The deal also includes the first-ever Uber Lounge, which will feature ultra-modern design, sleek seating, and a plethora of amenities to riders.
These are just two of the modern implementations for the center, which will also add boutiques including Chan Luu, Current/Elliott, Equipment, J. Crew, Jo Malone London, Johnny Was, Joie, Kate Spade New York, Madewell, Rodd & Gunn, Seafolly, Uno de 50, UNTUCKit, Urban Decay, Aesop, Ali & Jay, All Saints, Amazon Books, Breitling, Gerard Darel, Hugo Boss, John Hardy, John Varvatos, Journelle, lululemon, Peloton, Stitch & Trace, Vineyard Vines, Warby Parker and Zadig & Voltaire to its already hefty roster.
Upcoming food and restaurant openings include Biryani’s by Spice Affair, Grom, Kafe Bougatsa, Lette Macarons, Panini Café, Pressed Juicery, Randy’s Donuts, Rori’s Artisanal Creamery, Saint Marc (pub, café, bakery, and cheese affinage), Tocaya Organica, Smitten Ice Cream, Tosai Sushi, Everytable, Aloha Poke Co., as well as the yet unnamed restaurant to be opened by renowned chef Jonathan Waxman (which was previously announced), the highly anticipated Eataly and Wexler’s Deli.
Also, as part of Century City’s extensive health and wellness amenities, the world’s second, state-of-the-art Gloveworx boxing and athletic performance studio has been announced to open on the property, and the center will also welcome a UCLA Health Clinic offering high-quality medical care.
The new digs, which will encompass more than 1.3 million square feet of space, has also doubled its parking capacity, has a refreshed design in collaboration with L.A. based designer Kelly Wearstler and will eventually link to the LA Metro Purple Line subway.
