Quick Hits: The Chicest Way to Celebrate the Race to Mackinac Island
Revel in the regatta this weekend.
The 109th Race to Mackinac Island kicks off this weekend, and while you’ll find plenty of primo vantage points to watch the yachts set sail from Chicago, the chicest way to fete the regatta is actually at the finish line. On Sunday, July 16, revelers are invited to take to the porch of the Grand Hotel Mackinac (the longest hotel porch in the country) to watch the sailors come in from the 333 mile course whilst dressed in their Sunday best.
Sound fabulous? Tickets to the annual porch party event are still on sale ($50 online and $80 at the door). The event is adults only (though there is a concurrent children’s events). Men are required to wear a coat and tie, while dresses are preferred and hats are encouraged for women.
Presale tickets are available through tomorrow, July 15. Call the Chicago Yacht Club at 312-861-7777 for more information.
Staying in town for the race? Find out more about where to watch on the Chicago Yacht Club website here.
