Weekend Roundup in Atlanta: Literacy Luncheon and The Best Oscar Viewing in Atlanta
Atlanta was filled with exciting events all around the city. For the Weekend Roundup in Atlanta we had to highlight a literacy lunch for Atlanta-born NFL star Malcolm Mitchell who also is a children’s book author and the go-to Annual Awards Viewing Party at Pricci complete with a red carpet, papparazzi and fabulous gift bags.
Malcolm Mitchell Hosts First Literary Lunch for his Foundation
Malcolm Mitchell, former UGA wide-receiver and current member of the Superbowl-winning New England Patriots, held his first annual 2017 Literacy luncheon by Read With Malcolm and Share the Literacy Foundation at the Georgia Freight Depot on Friday. Malcolm, who wrote a children’s book “The Magician’s Hat” is a big advocate for childhood literacy. At his luncheon, he moderated a panel with Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta CEO Donna Hyland and Teach for America Metro Atlanta’s Executive Director J. Delano Ford where they discussed literacy issues impacting our community today.
All funds raised at the Literacy Luncheon went to support the Share the Magic Matching Grant Fund, which provides programming and books to Title 1 schools. Attorney Ken Nugent, who has been instrumental in supporting the Read with Malcolm Foundation accepted a “Impact Partner” award during the luncheon.
We hear that the philanthropic NFL player is currently working on his second children’s book. We can’t wait to see what he will pull out of the “magician’s hat” for this next book. Keep up the great work Malcolm! For more information and to order a copy of his book, visit https://www.readwithmalcolm.com/
19th Annual Telecast Awards at Pricci: Atlanta Gets Red Carpet
Sunday night’s 19th Annual Academy Awards Telecast Viewing Party at the ultra swanky Pricci restaurant was truly “award winning”! Buckhead’s elite walked the red carpet and were greeted by paparazzi and the host for the evening, Tom Sullivan, as they entered the restaurant where they enjoyed a delicious four-course movie-inspired dinner by Chef Piero Premoli. After dinner, guests had their photos taken with celebrities through the magic of the green screen, and sipped champagne in the luxe Rotari Champagne lounge while catching the rest of the show.
The gift bag included items like Atlanta-made “Classic O’s” sunglasses, samples of Garret popcorn, discounts at Atlanta Aesthetic Spa, lotion from Sweet Peach Spa, a $500 gift certificate to Cool Sculpting, notebooks from America’s Mart, complimentary prosecco from Pricci, limited edition Coke bottles from Coke, earbuds from SIA Boutique Dermatology, and more.
