Haute Secrets Boston: Former New England Patriot Troy Brown

In honor of the New England Patriots making it to Super Bowl LI this weekend, we checked in with former Patriot Troy Brown. The #80 wide receiver played his entire 15-year career with the Pats winning three Super Bowls (XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX).

Since retiring in 2008, TB80 was elected to the Patriots Hall of Fame, wrote a book entitled Patriot Pride: My Life in the New England Dynasty, is a spokesman for Narragansett beer, a Comcast football analyst, and mentors inner-city Boston youth.

He can often be found speaking throughout Massachusetts with the Boston Police Department for their Road to the Right Track program helping guide kids to make good decisions.

We caught up with Brown recently to find out what he loves most about Boston.

How long in Boston:  Since 1993, going on 24 years

Neighborhood: Foxboro

Occupation: Former New England Patriot and 3x Super Bowl Champion

Favorite Restaurant: A new favorite is Michael Schlow’s new restaurant, Doretta, with Chef Brendan Pelley

Best Sushi: I don’t do sushi!

Best Italian: Strega Waterfront

Best dessert: Anything at Modern Pastry or Caffe Vittoria

Best place for a romantic date: Top of the Hub

Best Sunday brunch: West End Johnnies

All-around favorite spot in Boston: Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Also, the Boston Harbor area is a beautiful place to walk around.

Best Aspect of Boston: The T (transit system) – most cities don’t have a system like the T and we’re fortunate it’s so easy to get around the city. Another one of my favorite aspects is the creation of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway; it’s such a great and fun way to use space in Boston with something for everyone with food trucks, the carousel, free events, and concerts.
