Star-Spangled Events: The Haute 5 Fourth of July Parties in London
Granted, the UK may not be the best place to celebrate Independence Day – it is after all the British that independence is being celebrated from. Still, that’s doesn’t mean that in 2010 there aren’t plenty of American-loving restaurants and events to don your stars and stripes and take part in some fun July 4th celebrations.
The Chicago Rib Shack
The Chicago Rib Shack in Knightsbridge is hosting an ‘All-American Weekend’ to celebrate Independence Day in London on the 3rd and 4th July. Always a popular choice with American expats, The Shack is a great venue to celebrate Independence Day with all the family. Diners can expect to see a lively restaurant decked out in the stars and stripes, with a rocking American soundtrack to get everyone in the mood.
Signature Baby Back Ribs with a special American bourbon glaze, classic American beers, and fun cocktails are all order of the day.

Independence Day at Circus
A relative newcomer to the London dining scene, Circus has been a hit since it opened. Feast on an all-American brunch on July 4th at this popular Covent Garden restaurant. This London performance restaurant boasts a stylish surrealist interior that transports you into a decadent world of glamour and escapism from the moment you enter. Independence Day is no exception and dinner will be entertained just is if guests are in the States, while feasting on American-themed menus.
Think quesadillas, tacos, stacked pancakes, and waffles, throw in a few magicians and illusionists and just imaging the fun.

All Star Lanes
If you want to do a little more than just eat and take part in a good old-fashioned family pastime, head to All Star Lanes in the East End for a real American bowling experience. With the UK’s only private blowing lane, All Star Lanes boutique bowling venue joins together the fun of American dining, cocktails, and bowling for strikes just like it’s still the rock n’ rolling fifties.
For Independence Day, US passport holders can get a discount on bowling and also get a free glass of Four Roses bourbon too.

Picnic in Portman Square
Spend Independence Day 2010 at an old-fashioned American picnic. Get out the red, white and blue and revel in some good old Americana. There’s live music, games, entertainment for the kids, and traditional snacks galore. You don’t even need to be an American to join in with the celebration but tickets must be bought by a US citizen or permanent resident.
Hosted by Democrats Abroad UK, the picnic takes place from 1–6pm on 4th July 2010.

American Beer Festival at The White Horse
The White Horse in Parson’s Green is back with its third annual American beer festival. This year they’re promising more American brews than ever before to ensure that the event is a success with beer connoisseurs and USA fans alike. Pints will include beers from Chicago’s Goose Island, Philadelphia’s Yard’s Brewing, Maryland’s Flying Dog, and from other breweries across the pond.
If you’re not a fan of beer then live music from blues and rock cover band The Steelers will be on hand to keep the crowds entertained.
