When former Miami Dolphin Jason Taylor decides to help the charity that bears his name, he’s not afraid to break a sweat. Taylor joined more than 100 cycle enthusiasts in the inaugural Katina Taylor Spin-A-Thon on June 4.
Cyclists helped raise $8,000 for the Jason Taylor Foundation and the Miramar-based Jason Taylor Reading Room. The reading program instructs inner-city children on phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary and writing skills. As added incentive, participants were invited to join the foundation program “Spiniversity,” run by famed Miami Heat disk jockey, DJ Irie.
The event was hosted by Midtown Athletic Club, one of Miami’s most popular tennis and fitness clubs among those in the know. With 25 outdoor lighted tennis courts to personal training and spa services, Midtown offers upscale facilities, amenities and services in a small-town atmosphere.
