Haute Spots Boston: Battery Wharf Hotel
Sure, you can stay downtown or in the Back Bay if you are looking to be at the pulse of city life in Boston, but when it comes to exploring the cozy Italian North End, there is only one haute property to stay – the Battery Wharf Hotel. Located on the 47-mile HarborWalk just steps from Hanover Street, the waterfront property opened just a couple of years ago and has gained much attention since, not only for its prime location but for its exemplary service as well.
We recently stayed a night at the property and were impressed with the service from the moment the friendly valets checked our car to when they whisked us to the check-in area and later personally escorted us to our room. There are 150 guestrooms to choose from here that include standard guestrooms, one-bedroom suites and a massive Presidential Suite. We stayed in a waterfront king guestroom that featured European linens, a spacious granite bathroom with rainfall shower and separate sitting area where you can watch the boats pull in and out of Boston Harbor.
The one-bedroom suites here have a separate parlor with sliding burled wood doors that lead to an enormous master bedroom with king bed and luxurious granite bath. For the ultimate luxe stay, book the Presidential Suite, a 1,500-square-foot getaway that includes a private terrace with harbor views, a separate master bedroom with king bed and granite bath, a high-powered telescope to watch the boats on the harbor and a boardroom table for private dinners or executive meetings.

Be sure to check out the on-site restaurant, Aragosta (which means lobster in Italian, so you know it’s going to be good). We sat at the chef’s tasting bar where we watched Chef Donna and her team in action creating handmade pasta dishes, creamy lobster bisque filled with fresh lobster, golden parmesan truffle duck fat fries and their famous Bolognese cooked al dente made even better with braised veal cheek and oxtail (pair it up with a glass of Da Vinci Chianti for the perfect experience). For lighter fare, try the ahi tuna with citrus and pickled onions, a sampling of fresh oysters (think Malpeque or Onset) or seared sea scallops.
For the ultimate in relaxation, head over to the on-site exhale Spa for a massage, facials, acupuncture, waxing, or nail therapy. In the warmer months, don’t miss their selection of fitness classes that include everything from Barre and Cardio to Boot Camp and Yoga and HIIT workouts.
