William Wegman’s Dogs in Coats
William Wegman the artist whose humorous photos of dogs in human situations have delighted the world has partnered with the Italian brand Maxmara. Their relationship dates back to 2001 in tandem with the brand’s 50th anniversary. Wegman was asked to create a series of eight images with the dogs wearing Maxmara’s iconic camel coat which were exhibited in the boutiques. The traveling photo exhibit is again in New York In celebration of the renewal of “Dogs in Coats.” Maxmara will run a special reproduction of the thirty limited edition 101801 camel coats.
Last night, the New York flagship celebrated their renewed partnership with a special reproduction of thirty limited editon 101801 coats in the origianal silhouette. William Wegman himself attended and mingled with guests at the event. The coats are for sale and an exclusive package of “Dogs In Coats” box of notecards will be included with everty purchase of a coat.
Since its launch in 1981, the 101801 double-breasted cashmere and wool beaver coat embodies the brand’s core values of simplicity, timeless elegance and effortless style, making it one of the most iconic and notable Max Mara pieces ever created.
Dogs in coats will debut in Boston and will travel to Manhasset, Troy, Chicago, New York, Toronto, Short Hills, San Francisco, Houston and finally Waikiki between September-November 2015. It’s interesting to note that Wegman grew up in a town outsid of Boston where the exhibit debuted originally.
William Wegman is an American artist, specializing in photography, videography, painting and drawing but is perhaps best known his iconic Weimareners as his subjects. Based in New York, Wegman’s various works have been exhibited in museums and galleries internationally.
