Bespoke Dubai: The People Of Sand
If you haven’t heard about The People of Sand yet, you’re really missing out on something fabulous. You don’t even have to put on your shoes to check the place out because it’s an online concept store based in Dubai. You can rest assured that if you buy something from The People of Sand, you’ll be unlikely to run across someone else wearing the same thing because they do not make their items in massive quantities. In fact, you’ll find that many items sell out regularly, and it’s easy to see why.

Parisian-born Audrey Soler founded The People of Sand, which draws on trends from around the globe to focus on products for the alternative lifestyle. She created the online concept store after living in the Dubai region for several years. She missed the styles she grew up with in Europe and struggled to find the types of things she wanted, which she describes as “unique, quirky, well-designed, bespoke items.”

You’ll see Bohemian, Scandinavian, Californian, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Vintage, and Retro influences in their products, all of which are aimed at a very small niche audience. They’ve got some of everything, from purses, clothing, and boots to unusual items for the home which make great conversation pieces.

Certainly every item you will find at The People of Sand is unique, and Soler says each piece as its own story. She likes to break the rules with the items she offers, and her concept store supports independent labels, artisans, and artists. The People of Sand adds new items to its carefully curated selection monthly. A group of interior designers and stylists from Paris, Barcelona, and Berlin hand-pick each item carefully.
“For us, it is not solely about style, but how you live your life with individualism and passion,” Soler says on The People of Sand website.”
The whole concept of The People of Sand is that true individuals don’t care what people think of them. People reinvent themselves, create their own style, and live free. Their tagline is “Independent Thinkers Make Their Own Style.”
