This Week In Dubai: SIIMA 2015, Summer Surprises, Garden After
The South Indian International Film Awards (SIIMA) 2015 is being held this week in Dubai, bringing some of Bollywood’s biggest stars to the city. Summer Surprises is in full swing as well, and this past week The Outlawz performed at the Majestic Hotel. Also Circus Fiesta continued this week, and an exhibition of work by Jamal Tayara-Baroudy continues in Sharjah.

SIIMA 2015 started on Thursday and continues on Friday at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Among the stars who vied for the Best Actor titles this year are Vijay, Dhanush, Mahesh Babu, and Fahadh Faasil. Among those nominated for Best Actress at SIIMA 2015 are Nazriya Nazim, Namita Pramod, Kriti Kharbanda, and Kajal Agarwal.
Shruti Haasan, Amala Paul, Yash, Devi Sri Prasad, Pooja Hegde, and Nikki Galrani were among the celebrities performing at SIIMA 2015.
Dubai Summer Surprises continues

There are always a lot of things to do during Dubai Summer Surprises, and this past week Circus Fiesta continued with a series of shows and workshops for children. The African Circus, the Color Circus, and the Kids European Circus, are all participating in Circus Fiesta at Mercato Shopping Mall. The shows and workshops run through Aug. 29.
This week The Outlawz, the rap group formed in 1995 by Tupac, performed at The Music Room at the Majestic Hotel in Bur Dubai. Thursday night’s show was the group’s first ever performance in Dubai.
“Garden After”

An exhibition entitled “Garden After” featuring pieces by Jamal Tayara-Baroudy continued this week at 1971 in Sharjah. Most of the pieces are triangular and done in black and white, with a few done in turquoise. The artist told The National she chose the colors because the descriptions of the Gardens in the Quran mentioned shade and rivers. “Garden After” runs through Sept. 26.
