Joan Malloy, the President and CEO of Alterna haircare, is a dynamic beauty executive with an extensive background in the industry. She has held management positions for 25+ years for a number of industry and category leaders: Bloomingdale’s, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, John Frieda Hair Care and Frederic Fekkai. Malloy is a strategic and creative marketer/leader who leverages a multi-faceted background in retailing, brand marketing, creative services, promotional planning and sales support/training. Since joining Alterna Haircare in 2009, Malloy has transformed the brand from a $15 million-per-year business into one of the most successful multi-channel luxury haircare brands, spanning salon professional, special retail and direct-to-consumer (which now currently ranks as the #4 haircare brand at Sephora US). With the brand’s business success and explosive brand awareness increase, Alterna Haircare was part of a $370 million acquisition by Henkel in 2014 (including Sexy Hair and Kenra Professional).In her spare time, Malloy donates time and resources to animal rescue charities. As a recent breast cancer survivor, Malloy is also passionate advocate for breast cancer charities and is currently preparing to walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk for the American Cancer Society for the second year.
