Haute 100 MIA: Second Series of Cuba Beat Announced
Eventus and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts are celebrating its 10th anniversary season with the second season of their concert series, Cuba Beat.
Sponsored by Baptist Health South Florida, Cuba Beat will feature five concerts, one more than the initial season. The five shows planned for the 2015-2016 season are: Celebrating Celia! featuring Aymee Nuviola, Diego ‘El Cigala’ and the Celia Cruz All-Stars on Sep. 19th; A Slice of Cuba featuring Albita and guests on Nov. 21st; Bolero: The Sound of Love featuring Lucrecia and guests on Feb. 27th, 2016; and Mambo: The Musical of Israel Lopez ‘Cachao’ featuring the Cachao Mambo All-Stars and a slew of guest mavens playing the master’s last works.
As a special bonus, Cuba Beat is expanding the series and debuting the launch of Puerto Rico Beat on Oct. 10th with a tribute to Hector Lavoe featuring the renowned Willie Colon as well as Domingo Quinones and Isidro Infante and his Orchestra.
In a statement, Nelson Albareda, Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning producer, and president of Eventus, said, “My passion for music was the reason I created the CUBA BEAT concert series a year ago, and I could not have been more pleased with the reception from the audiences during our first season. I am proud of the way our community has embraced this unique series and, together with the Arsht Center, I look forward to making Cuba Beat, as well as the newly-created Puerto Rico Beat, experiences that will last a lifetime and year-round cultural events.”
In addition, Cuba Beat will introduce Miami high school students with artists in hopes to emphasize the different music styles and embrace the rich musical heritage.
The series will take place in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall on Saturdays at 8 p.m.
Tickets for Celebrating Celia! and Puerto Rico Beat is slated to go on sale to the general public on July 31st. However, members can purchase tickets two days early starting today, July 29th.
