Dubai Summer Surprises kicked off on Thursday, and brought with it a new shopping feature to the annual city-wide event. Dubai: The Big Summer Sale got underway at the Dubai World Trade Centre, offering discounts on some of the world’s most coveted brands. Also happening over the bustling weekend in Dubai, comedian Max Amini performed two shows in one night, directed by Rob Schneider, and a Cream tribute band played in Bur Dubai.

Shopping is a tremendous feature of Dubai Summer Surprises. This year, yet another shopping festival has been added into the fabulous mix, boosting the popularity of the event even more.

Everyone in Dubai looks forward to Dubai Summer Surprises, which runs from July 23 until September 5 in 2015. This year Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment organized a new addition to Summer Surprises called The Big Summer Sale, which started late last week. Organizers told Gulf News that they plan to hold the sale each year in conjunction with Dubai Summer Surprises.

Shoppers can find massive discounts on some of the world’s premier brands at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Zabeel Hall two and three. The 10-day shopping extravaganza started on Thursday and runs through August 1, so there’s still time to check it out. Shopping hours are 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.

American comedian Max Amini, who is of Iranian descent, took the stage for two shows on one night at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre on Friday. The show was called Authentically Absurd to Max, and in it, Amini dealt with his Iranian heritage and offered up a witty string of quips and jokes about second generation immigrants from a variety of backgrounds. Rob Schneider directed Amini’s show, marking the first time the two teamed up.

Fresh Cream Played in Bur Dubai

A trio of well-known musicians took a break from their respective careers to unite and pay tribute to the British rock band Cream.

Fresh Cream, a tribute band to the 1960s British rock band Cream, played at the Majestic Hotel in Bur Dubai on Friday. World-renown singer and guitarist Eric Clapton, singer and bassist Jack Bruce, and drummer Ginger Baker made up Cream, which sold more than 15 million albums. Fresh Cream includes Bruce’s son Malcolm and Will Johns, who is the son of Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin producer Andy Johns. Chris Page joined them on drums for the one-night-only performance at The Music Room.
