MIA: Bunnie Cakes Vegan Cupcakes Come To Aventura Mall
When the Soffers started adding more and more luxury stores to Aventura Mall, they promised more gourmet snacking options to come as well. As a result, On Juice, Bertoni Gelato, Beluga Bar, and soon Bunnie Cakes, Miami’s best cupcakes (that just happen to be vegan) will open. The little Edgewater shop, owned by Mariana Cortez, is expanding to one of the most trafficked malls in the country. Of course, they’ve been expanding into other store fronts for a while now, where they are sold at Green Gables Cafe, Juice and Java, Panther Coffee, Temple Kitchen, Apple A Day, Guarapo Juice Bar, the Honey Tree, Milam’s Markets in Coral Gables and Coconut Grove, and Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakim.
“We love Aventura,” says Cortez. “Bunnie Cakes has a lot of customers there who’ve been asking us to open a store [up there]. We’d been looking for a long time and were thrilled when the perfect spot became available. We’re so excited!”
On opening day, Saturday, August 1st, guests to the Aventura location can expect balloons, friendly greetings and a free cupcake with every purchase from 2 to 6 p.m.
Like the Wynwood store, the Aventura spot’s décor will feature an array of hearts, vibrant colors and warm, welcoming décor-hand-picked by Cortez-in keeping with the Bunnie Cakes motto: “Our heart with every cupcake.”
The location is perfect, right across from the Friends With You playground, with chairs and tables to give shoppers the perfect sweet break. The new store will stock large and mini cupcakes as well as donuts, whoopee pies, cookies, brownies, small cakes and cakes in a jar, plus beverages including coffee, tea, water and natural sodas.
Even though the offerings are vegan and are available in some gluten-free incarnations, Bunnie Cakes are not only for those with dietary restrictions. Florian Bellanger, celebrity pastry chef and Cupcake Wars judge, called Cortez’s creations, “the best and most elegant cupcakes we have seen on the show.”
Bunnie Cakes are currently sold at the first storefront location in the Midtown / Edgewater area at 2322 NE 2nd Avenue.
