Christened “The Net Set,” the app will allow fashionistas the opportunity to shop the latest trends, recommend products to friends and upload images.
As stated on the site, “The Net Set” is open to anyone who loves fashion and style. To make sure we are offering our members the best possible experience, we are introducing people to the app on a first come first served basis. Please enter your email address below to request an invitation.”
Crafted by Sarah Watson, vice president of The Net Set, and Alexandra Hoffnung, creative director of social commerce at The Net-a-Porter Group, The Net Set will give brands the opportunity to reach their consumer directly. Brands will have a devoted page where fashionistas can purchase goods directly from Net-a-Porter effortlessly. There will be overnight delivery in 170 countries and same-day delivery in Manhattan, London and Hong Kong.
Fashion aficionados can browse and “like” items privately or opt for a friend’s input by making his or her feed public.
A Net-a-Porter press release explains, “Today, we are living the golden era of digital exploration, where connectivity is instant and the world mingles on the mobile web. From today, the most fashionable of these will be known as The Net Set.”
Unlike Instagram or Twitter where “friends” are labeled as “followers,” The Net Set describes “friends” as “admirers.”
Natalie Massenet, Net-a-Porter founder, said, “The rise of social media and style blogs has shown that women around the world are inspired by each other’s styles and their closets. The Net Set is to mobile in 2015 what Net-a-Porter.com was to desktop in 2000.”
The Net Set will first be available on May 13 for all Apple devices.
On March 31st, the Yoox Group and Net-a-Porter announced the companies are set to merge. Some key highlights of the transaction are:
- Both businesses will have the opportunity to cover all key geographic luxury markets
- Both businesses has a larger platform and an opportunity to build stronger partnerships with fashion brands
