Christian Dior Unveils Cruise 2011 In Shanghai
Dior brought its 2011 Cruise collection to Shanghai over the weekend. And while Shanghai may not inspire images of leisurely days bathing in the tropics, you can always count on John Galliano to deliver a spectacular show and even more breathtaking clothes.
Dior brought its 2011 Cruise collection to Shanghai over the weekend. And while Shanghai may not inspire images of leisurely days bathing in the tropics, you can always count on John Galliano to deliver a spectacular show and even more breathtaking clothes.
The runway was constructed along the Huangpu River in the historic colonial district the Bund, and Dior muses Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard—who also debuted her third installment in the Lady Dior Saga, Lady Blue Shanghai directed by David Lynch, prior to the show—sat in the front row along with LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, and Dior CEO Sidney Toledano.
Signature Dior rose was on everything from shift coats, choker necklaces, handbags, and the occasional frock. There were silk chiffons in myriad pastels, stripes, gingham, bows, and more than enough options for evening. Not one look evoked feelings of the Far East. Rather Galliano was referencing “that excitement that was happening at that time in Paris, which is very similar to what is happening in Shangai today.”
