American actress, Bo Derek, once famously remarked: “Whoever said money can’t buy you happiness, simply didn’t know where to shop.”
And if you’re wondering where to bust out your Black Amex over the Bank Holiday, Haute Living recommends heading to Harrods. The luxury London department store is hosting a celebration of Prada from now until the end of the month.
The takeover – dubbed ‘Pradasphere’ – consists of an exhibition dedicated to the passions (including non fashion related pursuits such as America’s Cup) of designer Miuccia Prada, a pop-up Prada café and around 40 stunning window displays devoted to the iconic Italian brand. One of the most interesting inclusions of the takeover is a series of short films created by friends of the fashion house — here’s looking at you, Baz Luhrmann, with whom Prada collaborated with on the costumes that appeared in the Australian’s 2013 adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
Londoners who love the label will also be able to purchase an exclusive limited edition collection of remade pieces from Prada’s extensive archives.
The project is the brainchild of Michael Rock – founding partner and creative director of New York-based design consultancy 2×4.
“Pradasphere is a portrait of one of our generation’s most creative minds,” revealed Rock, who worked closely with Miuccia Prada and her team on the project, at the launch. “Pradasphere demonstrates that Prada is not so much a brand in the traditional sense of the word, but one extraordinary individual’s way of thinking, way of making, and way of looking at the contemporary world.”
Pradasphere runs until 29 May 2014 at Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Rd, London SW1X 7XL
