The CFDA Awards: Update

News | May 10, 2010

Last month, we announced the nominees for the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards. Now, with just weeks till the annual event (June 7 to be exact), our excitement and anticipation is growing.

Invitations just went out, and details are being finalized. But there’s one highlight of the evening we just can’t keep to ourselves. You may already know that the late great Alexander McQueen is being posthumously honored with the CFDA Board of Directors’ Special Tribute Award. But what you may not have heard is that those lucky guests invited to the event will view a special presentation of his final collection—which has yet to be shown in its entirety. The collection was shown at Paris Fashion Week last March, but due to a variation of reasons only choice pieces were presented.

Also, good news for those late arrivals, the CFDA plans to expand the cocktail hour. Curious about the Trey Laird-designed invitations? It’s a montage of runway shots from the designers nominated for the L’Oreal Popular Vote Award. If you weren’t so lucky to receive one of these hot little invites, rest assured. We will have a full synopsis of the evening on June 8.
