Haute Yacht of the Week: Venus
Venus, the 256-foot luxury superyacht commissioned by late Apple founder Steve Jobs, was recently spotted cruising in Mexico’s Cabo San Lucas Bay.
Jobs recruited legendary French designer Philippe Starck to turn his dream sailing vessel into reality back in 2008. He also tapped the chief designer of Apple stores to create a special type of structurally reinforced glass for use on the yacht, which was built by Feadship and unveiled last year in Holland. Venus ultimately cost more than $160 million to build. Unfortunately, Jobs passed away (in October of 2011) before ever getting to use the yacht.
An entirely aluminum hull makes the Venus significantly lighter and more agile than other yachts of its kind. Appropriately, the ship is controlled by a row of 27-inch iMacs located in the wheelhouse. Venus boasts a number of luxury amenities, including a large sun terrace and Jacuzzi.
