Haute 100 NY Update: Spike Lee Will Attend Roger Ebert Film Festival
Expect some serious star power at Eberfest this year! Director Spike Lee has announced his plans to attend a 25th anniversary screening of his film, “Do The Right Thing” at the film festival named after the recently departed movie critic, Roger Ebert.
Widely known for his tough reviews, Ebert awarded Lee’s 1989 film four stars when it initially hit theaters. The 16th annual festival will run from April 23-27 at the Virginia Theatre in Champaign, Ill, not far from Ebert’s alma mater, the University of Illinois.
Though a full lineup has yet to be announced, festival organizers previously revealed that director Oliver Stone will attend a 25th-anniversary screening of his film “Born on the Fourth of July” and that comedian Patton Oswalt will attend a screening of his 2011 movie “Young Adult.”
