The Ritz-Carlton gave itself a $25 million makeover and coming with it a lot of new additions worth taking a gander at. Set atop the prestigious Michigan Avenue Water Tower Place, the Ritz underwent a year and a half long renovation in an attempt to “one up” the new modern wing at the Art Institute down the block with a new and notably updated art deco decor.
Deca, the New 12th Floor Contemporary American Restaurant/Bar
Fun Facts:
-The name is indicative of “Decade,” as in a new era for the Ritz. To 2010 and beyond.
-Deca is eco-friendly with rechargeable table lighting and two complementary iPads to catch up on your daily news.
-Executive Chef Mark Payne showcases oysters and mussels, with a mix of other notable “brasserie” type items and notable cultural influences.
-Deca’s “do it yourself” mojito bar surely will be a late night and brunch hit.
-They have the only Kronenbourg 1664 distinctive head injection tap in the United States, which means a perfect pour every time. Sip Comfortably.
-Cleverly named, the ‘Deca’dent Ten Layer Chocolate Cake by Pastry Chef Eric Estrella is a must-indulge dessert.
