What started out as a small joke by Jimmy Fallon about the mayor of Chicago, has ballooned into something much bigger, much funnier and much, much colder. The new host of the Tonight Show made a joke saying that Mayor Rahm Emanuel can host his show whenever he wants to because Jimmy’s “scared of that guy.” This prompted Mayor Emanuel to post a tweet inviting Jimmy Fallon to take the Polar Plunge in Chicago with the mayor at North Avenue Beach. Shockingly, Jimmy Fallon agreed and he’s a better man than me because I would have laughed it off and kept it moving.

For those unfamiliar with the Polar Plunge, it’s where you jump into the freezing ice cold Lake Michigan. It’s actually for a good cause, the Special Olympics Chicago, plungers have to raise a minimum of $150 to participate, which will support the programs enjoyed by the nearly 5,000 Special Olympics Chicago athletes throughout the year. All are welcome to join the Mayor and Jimmy this Sunday, March 2 at 10AM. For more information on the 13th Annual Polar Plunge or to register to take the plunge, click here.
