GIORGIO ARMANI AND SEAN PENN, HELP HAITI HOME GALA

News | January 24, 2014

Sean Penn and friends raised more than $6 million for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization at a benefit presented by Giorgio Armani Jan. 11. All four members of U2 performed together for the first time in four years at the gala, while renowned artist Banksy created the original “Balloon for Haiti” for a live auction – which was purchased by Coldplay’s Chris Martin for $1.4 million. Penn gave up his 67 guns to artist Jeff Koons, who created a one-of-a-kind “decommissioned commission” for one lucky bidder; Anderson Cooper won this particular bid for $1.4 million. Additional attendees at the Montage-held event included Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Hemsworth, Diane Kruger, Julia Roberts, Emma Thompson and Oliver Stone.
