Bruno Mars Prepares for Singing in Cold Weather During Super Bowl Halftime Show

As hotels, restaurants and nightclubs prepare for the influx of tourists headed for New York during the 2014 Super Bowl, Bruno Mars is busy with his own sort of game day preparations—braving the cold weather! The award-winning musician is performing during the halftime show on Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. and has been getting an earful about the likely freezing temperatures.

“Everyone’s putting the fear in god in me like there’s going to be a blizzard,” Mars told the Associated Press.

When asked how he plans to stay warm on stage, Mars joked, “I’m going to wear a beekeeper suit, I don’t know. I’m not going to know until I get there … I’m not trying to hype myself up too much.”

Despite the cold weather, Mars says he never considered declining the offer to perform during the Super Bowl.  “[W]hat do you say? ‘Nah.’ What do you say? ‘Absolutely. Let’s rock,’” he explained. “It was something exciting for me and my [band]. It wasn’t too long ago when we were performing in clubs and bars and pubs, and even when I put [my first] album out, [we were] opening acts for a bunch of different artists, living in a van and traveling around and kind of putting in the work and time.”
