The Seagate Country Club recently unveiled a multi-million dollar renovation that enhanced the world-class golf facility. As the home of the first Golf Digest School, the renovation preserved the original Joe Lee-designed course while enriching the course with advanced state-of-the-art grasses and technology that were not in existence when Joe Lee originally designed the course in 1973.

Golf Course Architect, Gene Bates, and PGA Champions Tour player and current club member, Jeff Sluman, were instrumental in providing direction on course enhancements to ensure the course met PGA standards and maintained the original Joe Lee course design. “Joe Lee left a legacy of creating some of the greatest golf courses around the country that were challenging but fair to all golfers’ levels and skills,” said Bates. “I am very proud to have maintained the integrity of an original Joe Lee-designed golf course, while also incorporating enhancements that were not available during his time.”
