Cold Weather Brings Hot Chocolate to Firecakes
If you’ve never had a Firecakes donut, you don’t know what you’re missing. They are like a gift from above, the freshness and quality of the donuts are apparent before you even take a bite. The donuts are so much like a gift that they even tie the box with string so it feels like you’re opening a gift. Now that the temperatures are falling, Firecakes in River North (68 West Hubbard) is serving up the perfect complement to their handheld masterpieces, frothed to order Hot Chocolate. Chef Jonathan Fox’s made to order, Parisian-style hot chocolate ($4 per cup) balances Belgian bittersweet chocolate with organic milk, a touch of vanilla and cane sugar. This delicious, decadent drink is topped with a housemade, Tahitian vanilla bean marshmallow. It will be available throughout the entire Fall/Winter season and will match up with any of the amazing hand-crafted, small batch donuts available at Firecakes (and listed below). Get in there and try one of these great treats, while sipping on a cup of the new hot chocolate.
