Photos: Kid Rock Performs for the D Las Vegas Anniversary
The three-day celebration for the D Las Vegas’ first anniversary finished with a bang on Saturday night thanks to a wild show by five-time Grammy Award nominee and multi-platinum selling artist Kid Rock. Derek Stevens welcomed the rock superstar saying, “We’ve had a lot of fun this last year and now we’re kicking it up a notch. There’s nobody I wanted more for this show than the guy from my hometown, Kid Rock!”
Kid Rock opened his set with hit song, “Devil Without A Cause” as a white curtain dropped revealing the band to the massive crowd gathered around the Third Street Stage just outside of the D. The bad boy rock star looked every bit the part in a black fedora, gold aviators, black T-shirt, dark wash Levi’s and red Jordans. He engaged with fans throughout the show, even telling first timers he’d ease them into the concert and to prepare for a crazy time.
The band performed a range of fan favorites including “Cowboy,” “Wasting Time,” “God Bless Saturday,” “Rock Bottom Blues,” “Born Free,” “Only God Knows Why,” and “All Summer Long.” Fans were wowed with pyrotechnics when ten-foot flames blasted from atop Kid Rock’s touring sign during the performance of smash hit “Bawitdaba.” Kid Rock gave an incredibly diverse set, spinning the tracks for a DJ cameo as he blasted confetti into the crowd and later crooning a soulful guitar duet of “Picture,” with bandmate Shannon Curfman. He closed out the high-energy show saying, “I want to thank the D for putting on this little shindig!” as the crowd roared with applause.
Notable guests on Saturday night also included Academy Award-winning rapper DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia and retired NFL player Jevone Kearse, who enjoyed the show from the D’s VIP booths on Fremont Street.
