NY Yankee Robinson Cano Seeking $305 Million Contract
Come next week, New York Yankee player Robinson Cano will become a free agent. If the New York Yankees want to keep the All-Star second baseman on their roster, they’ll have to shell out a pretty penny.
SportsCenter is reporting that Cano is seeking $305 million for a 10-year contract with the New York team—making him the highest-paid player in baseball history. Despite the large paycheck being tossed around, Cano said that he wants to take his time and not rush into any decisions.
“I want to sit down with my family and decide what we gonna do,” he told ESPN. “I haven’t decided anything yet. But don’t get me wrong. I love this team, you know?”
Cano, who has never played for any other team, was signed by the Yankees as an amateur free agent at the age of 18. As a result, he admitted that it would be hard to imagine suiting up in a different uniform. “Man, that would be hard,” he revealed. “But at the same time, I understand it’s a business. They have to decide what is the best for them, and I have to decide what is best for me and my family. I’m just waiting for the day.”
