Haute Secrets: Artist Karen Starosta-Gilinski
Karen Starosta-Gilinski is a Venezuelan-American visual artist who works in Miami, creating voluminous sculptures with collected objects from her studio in Little Haiti at The Fountainhead. Starosta-Gilinski is working on a collaboration with it girl and jewelry designer Tara Sokolow which will be shown at Primary Projects during Basel. Her husband, Isaac Gilinski, owns the financial site and newsletter, Brickell Analytics.
Gilinski has a BFA and graduated Cum Laude; also studied drawing at Accademia Del Giglio, Florence, Italy. Her work has been shown all over town including the David Castillo Gallery ‘DCG OPEN 2012’, 6th Street Container Solo show ‘Outside In’ 2013 as well as in London, Shanghai, Chicago and South America, and is in important private art collections. She served on MOCA Mystery Date’s committee for 5 years, putting on the famous dinners, and donates her work to Locust Project’s Smash and Grab Fundraiser which takes place this year on October 26th.
