Super Bowl XLVIII Ticket Prices on the Rise

Super-Bowl-XLVIII

Fans looking to secure prime seats for Super Bowl XLVIII this February can expect to pay a pretty penny. According to new reports from The Wall Street Journal, club level seats for the big game at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium are selling for $2,600 each—a steep increase from last year’s Super Bowl in New Orleans, where the top tickets went for $1,250.

Seats in the stadium’s lower bowl are expected to sell for $1,500, a significant markup from last season’s price of $950. Though the price increase may seem drastic, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy argues that most individuals that attend the Super Bowl pay significantly more than face value for their tickets and that the league’s goal is simply to retain some of the value that is currently going to ticket brokers.

“We are looking to close the gap between the face value of the ticket and the true value of a ticket to what has become the premier sports and entertainment event,” he explained.

The lucky fans that do splurge on club seats will have access to stadium’s indoor restaurants, which could be particularly worthwhile on a cold night in New Jersey.
