A Sneak Peek at the Petersen Automotive Museum’s Modern New Look
The Petersen Automotive Museum is going through some major changes, not the least of which is getting rid of 1/3 of its fleet of classic cars.
The museum is getting a facelift courtesy of Kohn Pedersen Fox, as the above sketch indicates, though official plans won’t be announced for the next month.
According to the LA Times, the new digs, which are encased in stainless steel ribbons, are “meant to evoke Art Deco themes” as well as provide an “immersive museum experience”.
Cars like a 1995 Ferrari F50, a 2006 Bugatti Veyron and a 1990 Ferrari F40 are being nudged out for other vehicles, as the new museum’s new strategy is reportedly to put a heavier emphasis on French art-deco rides and motorcycles.
The Petersen claims that its collection has grown too large and they’re simply selling duplicates.
