Over this year, art sales have set records among three of the major auction houses: Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips de Pury’s, despite the international recession. This has been one of the biggest years in art sales compared to prior auctions. In November alone, Christie’s made nearly half a billion dollars off of contemporary art.
