Haute Event: Check Out the New Christmas Display at the Bellagio

The Bellagio lit its Christmas tree on Friday night in the Conservatory. The display, open through Jan. 5, 2013, contains a 45-foot Shasta fir, the largest ever displayed at the Bellagio, weighing in at 8,000 pounds and loaded with 2,500 ornaments and 10,000 LED lights.
The display includes a chocolate village located in the East Garden crafted of 1,000 pounds of dark chocolate, 600 pieces of candy and 50 boxes of Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats. It took a team of four pastry chefs one month to create the train station and eight houses.
From Dec. 17 until Dec. 25, the Conservatory will be filled with the voices of carolers from 4 to 5 p.m. Vibraphone and marimba performers will perform on the embellished gazebo from 5 to 6 p.m. nightly.
The display contains 14 types of flowers and a total of 50,000 flowers within the exhibit.
