SF MOMA to Honor Artist Jim Campbell for Lifetime Achievement
On October 23, the SF MOMA will honor Jim Campbell for his lifetime achievement with the Bay Area Treasure Award Dinner. The SF MOMA is pulling out all the stops for the honoree with a one-night-only installation.
Jim Campbell is no stranger to the spotlight.
The Bay Area Artist has been creating his iconic LED matrix works in since 2000. Today, Campbell has emerged as a leading figure in new media arts; his work is revered around the world, included in numerous public collections from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC, among others.
His current work combines film, sound, and LED light installations, and his latest exhibition, Exploded Views, has been a feature at the SF Moma since November, 2011.
On October 23, the SF MOMA will honor Jim Campbell for his lifetime achievement with the Bay Area Treasure Award Dinner. The SF MOMA is pulling out all the stops for the honoree with a one-night-only installation in SFMOMA’s Schwab Room for the Benefactor Reception.
During the award dinner, SFMOMA Curator of Media Arts Rudolf Frieling and media artist Scott Snibbe will join honoree Campbell onstage to discuss the innovative and extraordinary career of this Bay Area artist.
Grand Benefactor tables/tickets are available at $8,000/$800 each; Benefactor tables/tickets are $6,000/$600 each; and a limited number of general tickets are available at $400 each. Proceeds from this event benefit SFMOMA’s exhibitions and public programming
