Haute 100 NY Update: Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, R.I.P.
Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, 86, who served as publisher of the New York Times from 1963 to 1992 died on Saturday at his home in Southampton, New York. The newspaper controlled by his family since 1896 and currently published by his son Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr. ran a 7,697 word obituary of the great publisher written by Clyde Haberman, who has worked for the Grey Lady since 1977. Sulzberger, nickname Punch, was remembered primarily for his decision in 1971 to run the Pentagon Papers exposing the White House’s misdeeds while escalating the Vietnam War.
