Jezebel Kicks the Kosher into Soho

News | July 12, 2012

When Menachem Senderowicz and Henry Stimler combined forces to open Jezebel the vision was clear: rich finishes, a dramatic design, one-of-a-kind commissioned artworks and a series of family heirlooms that would tell a similar tale of richness stemming from the families of said men. Couple the environs with their new take on Kosher dining and what you’ve got is a religious experience, ladies and gents.

The restaurant, designed by Studio GO, is housed in an 1887 townhouse and offers seating for about 150 total between the first and second floor dining areas making it just intimate enough without risking losing the atmosphere factor—which is just perfect.

And while Jewish memorabilia and family heirlooms punctuate the space, they only act as accessories to the main event, a kosher menu created by Culinary Director Chef Bradford Thompson, a James Beard award-winning chef. And how did he make the offerings unique you may ask? He concentrated on creating a menu that while seasonal, also elevates traditional kosher dining by marrying it with modern American cuisine. And speaking of marriage, the food is perfectly paired with a complete kosher wine list and cocktail menu created by mixologist Nick Mautone of Gramercy Tavern fame.

It’s like an overindulgent trip sans any Jewish guilt, oy vey.
