The Waldorf-Astoria is proud of its long history, and willing to give the small time crooks who’ve stayed in its suites a break in order to preserve it. The hotel is calling on all (living) guests who stole items before 1960 to return the loot. They promise to not ask any questions or take any action against the thieves. The Waldorf is even asking the plunderers to attach their own memories of the goods in question as they return the half-century old silverware, linens and ashtrays. “Returned items should include a brief description, date when the item was taken and the guest’s associated memories,” the hotel said in a statement. The amnesty program was established to aid the Waldorf’s expanding archives and historical gallery.
