Elvis Presley’s Original Crypt to be Sold at Auction

News | May 29, 2012

Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien is giving avid bidders the chance to be buried in the original crypt of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. This bid is part of Julien’s “Music Icons” auction to be held beginning on June 23 in Julien’s Auction house in Beverly Hills.

The tomb is located at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. inside a private mausoleum. Presley was buried there when he died in 1977, alongside his mother Gladys, temporarily before his father received permission from the state of Tennessee to bury him and his mother at the Graceland estate. The original crypt has remained empty ever since.

The winning bidder, along with the crypt, will receive opening and closing of the vault for burial, a memorialization inscription and use of a chapel for a committal service.

Julien’s Music Icons auction will include items from Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, Amy Winehouse, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Elton John and more.
