Hearts Gala: A Record-Breaking Event For The American Heart Association

The 28th annual American Heart Association’s Heart Gala has reached astral levels, raising over $400,000 to build healthy lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

Held at the Four Seasons on March 1, the star-studded affair was a show-stopper.  As “I Shot the Sheriff” played, performance artist David Garibaldi created a portrait of Bob Marley, then Mick Jagger in front of the audience’s eyes.

The 7-foot tall canvases were auctioned off for a total of $16,000.  Other big-ticket items included private dinners by renowned chef Michael Mina, sold three times for a grand total of $108,000.

Will Durst served as Master of Ceremonies, while Blake Grossman, former Vice Chairman of BlackRock and managing partner of CHJ Capital Management LLC, was chairman of the event.

Funds raised from this year’s Gala brings the grand total to $1.3 million.
