COMO Hotel and Resort in Bhutan Opening Sister Hotel, Uma Punakha

A COMO Hotel and Resort in Bhutan will open Uma Punakha to join its sister destination at the foothills of the Himalaya Mountains. The 11-room Uma Punakha situated on the Punakha Valley, one of the most precious and peaceful valleys to the Bhutanese, is due to launch in September.

Some historical attractions in this location is the Temple of the Divine Madman and the Punakha Dzong, one of the historic Kingdom’s administrative centers. Aside from the luscious attractions, Uma Punakha Hotel goes above and beyond, offering guests the opportunity to white-water raft, hike and cycle under expert supervision of qualified English-speaking guides.

Uma Punakha is designed by Bali-based architect, Cheong Yew Kwan, who is also responsible for COMO Shambhala Estate, villas at Parrot Cay that are part of COMO Hotels and Resorts and the new Four Seasons Resort in the Seychelles. Punakha’s design of each of the 11 rooms includes natural light, over-size beds, wood-burning stoves and traditional hand-painted Bhutanese wall designs.

Uma Punakha will also house a restaurant and lounge bar that will serve the finest Bhutanese delicacies and a varied international menu.
