News | October 6, 2011

On Sunday, Oct. 2, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison kicked off OpenWorldSan Francisco’s biggest tech event, which ends today – by delivering his keynote message and proposing a new addition to Oracle’s hardware line, an all-in-one data center.

In his speech to roughly 40,000 conference guests, Ellison offered his take on the new products at the event that combine the server, storage, and network all in a single, highly-integrated box. He also addressed the advantages of parallel computing and demonstrated the latest Sparc Solaris computer and gave a tour under the lid of Oracle’s new Exalytics Business Intelligence Machine.

“How do we make this thing to go 10 times faster? Parallel everything,” Ellison said. “Lots and lots of parallel network connections moving enormous amounts of data in parallel. That’s how you make this thing go faster.”

While the speech left some wondering where Ellison is going with all this, his clear excitement for the company’s advances have the tech world watching intently for his next move.
