Sporty Eveningwear From Monique Lhuillier At New York Fashion Week

News | September 12, 2011

When one thinks of Monique Lhuillier, the vision of an elegant wedding dress typically comes to mind, but for her spring 2012 ready-wear show at New York Fashion Week, the designer brought out her inner tough girl with neon, leather, lace and sexy cut outs for a shockingly sporty and sleek collection.

With slicked backed pony-tails and racing stripe inspired electric blue eye-liner by MAC, the models excluded a fashionable athleticism in sexy silhouettes.

Standouts included a scuba skin tight strapless blue and black corset dress, long silk frocks with harness leather banding details, ink splattered prints on A-Line dresses and a black lace blouse.

Monique saved some serious ball-gowning for the end of the show. A gorgeous trumpet style gown in bright citrus, a one shoulder violet silk standout and a jaw-dropping princess cut ball-gown with an incredible blue ink print.

On the models’ nails, Wanda Ruiz from CND designed “Soy Milk” manicures on active, oval shaped nails using semi-sheer CND Colour in Cream Washed topped with CND Super Shiney Top Coat for a glossy finish. Pedicures were reminiscent of a cloudy night sky using custom blended blue.

Front row attendees included Dancing With the Stars winner Julianne Hough, Mary Moore and LeeAnn Rimes and her husband Eddie Cibrian.
