Roman Abramovich Acquires Property on Billionaire’s Row

West London’s Billionaires’ Row has a new resident: Roman Ambrovich.
The Russian tycoon, who owns Chelsea football club and is worth £10.3 billion, is third from among Britain’s top ten wealthiest individuals who have bought property in this highly coveted location.
Average property rates on this tree-lined street have skyrocketed to £19.5 million – 93 times the national average house price of £205,985 – making it the country’s priciest street.
Abramovich spent £90 million on a mansion with lush gardens and more than 15 bedrooms where he will live with his girlfriend Dasha Zhukova and their son, Aaron.
This property will also feature a subterranean playground including a tennis court, health center and museum for the billionaire’s vintage Ferrari collection.
This acquisition comes close on the heels of Abramovich’s decision to suspend a £150 million renovation of nine flats in Lowndes Square, Belgravia.
Since the National Trust co-owns the freehold of Lindsey House, Abramovich will have to allow the public into parts of the house and the surrounding grounds on specific days of the year.
Some high-profile occupants of neighboring properties include Britain’s richest man Lakshmi Mittal, oil mogul Len Blavatnik and Jon Hunt, the founder of Foxtons real estate agency. The late Princess Diana’s Kensington Palace is also nearby.
