Haute Dining: Umami Burger to Take Over Jovino’s Former Union Street Spot

News | July 1, 2011

San Francisco burger aficionados have something scrumptious to look forward to this summer. Foodie burger favorite Umami Burger is taking over the Union Street spot formerly occupied by Jovino. According to Grub Street, owner Adam Fleischman completed escrow for the prime location early on Thursday, June 30. After rumored negotiations for another space didn’t quite work out, the celebrated eatery is slated to open – after a fresh Umami-style makeover – this September.

The hugely popular Umami chain of restaurants is branching out from their Los Angeles base with extensive expansion plans to span the nation. In addition to anticipated locations in the Mission and in Oakland, this particular burger haven will be located at 2184 Union Street.
