Fruits Of Your Labor: Fashion and Jewelry Houses Ready-to-Wear
For spring, fashion and jewelry houses are serving up a healthy dose of ready-to-wear and accessories laden with fruit motifs
The warmer months tend to usher in florals, brights, and the like. But for 2011, top houses have incorporated fruit motifs into the mix, delivering everything from single fruit elements like the apple graphic tees shown at Z-Spoke by Zac Posen to pop-art, repeating patterns similar to the banana tops donned on the Prada runways. Charlotte Olympia’s Bananas is my Business shoe was an interesting implementation of the trend, showcasing python fruits atop a stacked wooden heel. Similarly, the print masters at Marimekko did strawberry totes and queen of the perpetually kitch, high-jewelry designer SolangeAzagury-Partridge, brought to life a collection of cherry rings and earrings to top it all off. In short, when it comes to fruit spangled pieces for spring, we say you go bananas.
