LA Philharmonic Brings Out All Four Seasons

While Los Angeles has only two, most other destinations around the world have four.  At some point during our Summer/Indian Summer seasons, the rest of the northern hemisphere experiences Autumn and then again where our weather doesn’t change much around March, much of the world is loosening their scarves and leaving their gloves at home.

Natives to LA may not be experts on the seasons, but we can admit there’s something really beautiful and transformational about them – we can appreciate them in other ways such as photographs, stories from frozen friends back east, and via Vivaldi’s timeless “Four Seasons.”  On this weekend at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, “Four Seasons” consists of the first four violin concertos of his twelve concerto series called The Contest Between Harmony and Invention.

Recognized far and wide as one of the most widely played and loved pieces of Baroque music written for violin, this weekend’s performance will feature 21-year-old violinist Veronika Eberle in her Disney Hall and LA Philharmonic debut under British conductor Harry Bicket.  Having played with the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields in the UK, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall and Munich’s Herkulesaal, Eberle is on her way to becoming an internationally acclaimed star of the classical music world.  Hailing from Germany, she’s also very familiar with the seasons, which means you’ll be in good hands.

The Philharmonic will also perform Vivaldi’s Concerto in G Major for Two Violins and Two Cellos as well as Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Suite from Les Boreades.
