Haute Event: SFMOMA 2011 Art Auction

News | April 19, 2011

On April 6, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) held its biennial Art Auction. The highly anticipated fundraiser was organized by the Modern Art Council (MAC) and featured more than 70 lots representing an exceptional range of pieces that included photographs, paintings, and works on paper donated by local and national galleries and artists.

The event included both live and silent auctions featuring works by important artists as John Baldesarri, Mel Bochner, Mark Bradford, Vija Celmins, Chuck Close, OlafurEliasson, Mark Grotjahn, Marilyn Minter, Dave Muller, and Richard Serra, just to name a few. This year’s auction highlighted works by artists who have had long-standing relationships with SFMOMA—artists who have contributed significantly to the history and stature of the museum.

Proceeds from the event benefited SFMOMA’s world-class art collection and educational programs.

Guests included MAC President, Jill Barnett, and husband Andrew Barnett, and Event Co-Chairs Annie Robinson Woods and Ariane Maclean Trimuschat, and many other San Francisco notables.
